Working together with the web manager, a UX researcher, and a front-end developer, I designed the face of the The University of Sussex website.

The University of Sussex is a leading research-intensive university near Brighton with over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and degrees. They believe higher education helps social mobility, and that it is important for all young people to have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The main immediate problems they faced were an inability to easily update images, and a lack of visual structure throughout the site beginning with the homepage. Using their new printed material as a guide to improved branding, we refreshed the visual design and information architecture to better reflect their message and improve user experience and interaction while also allowing for easy updates.

We opted for a bigger introduction space for greater impact with clear calls to action. We identified areas of interest to quick link into sections of the site. We also highlighted the main advertising message which supports print and social campaigns. New styles where consistently applied throughout the site.
