At the beginning of 2011, the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of the Basque Country contacted us so that we could design its Teaching Guide for the 2011-2012 academic year. The publication, which was given to the new students, was intended to publicize the operation of the center and the program of each of the subjects of the career.

According to the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, a guide is something that directs. And to guide is to go ahead showing the way to others. After reading both definitions, images of elements that illuminate such as headlights or light bulbs came to our mind, so we came to the conclusion that we could represent this concept using fluorescent inks which, are common in the student environments in schools when the use the typical markers that serve to underline the important parts of a text. In addition, the use of three of the most typical colors with these characteristics (yellow, blue and pink) would help us to differentiate the different languages of the publication (Basque, Spanish and English) and to highlight the headlines or names of the subjects.

With that part defined and after a while from the beginning of the project we were commissioned to carry out the art direction of the photographs. We decided to include, at the beginning of each language, images of the exterior and interior of the building And then, as we wanted to avoid the typical snapshots of students in class, we made different still lifes with elements taken from the classrooms themselves and that the future students were going to use in the degrees of Art, Creation and Design or Conservation and Restoration of Goods Cultural during his years at the Faculty.
