Typographic image representation of a Bob Dylan and Eminem classic
These two images are created from the lyrics of two popular songs from the 20th century.

The first song that I am doing is a song by Bob Dylan, “Like a Rolling Stone” it is from 1965, the 60’s era. When major events had a big impact on music especially Dylan’s. It was the era of the psychedelic movement, counter culture change, anti war etc. In this song Dylan is telling a story about a debutante losing her innocence. To portray the loss of innocence, I used layers and the overlapping of individual letters in the words, the words become lost and distorted. The phrase “like a rolling stone” is a key phrase in the song as well as the title and the questions represent the questions he asks throughout the song.

The second song that I am doing is Eminem’s song “Kim” from 2000. I done this song as it’s a good contrast to Dylan’s song. It also tells a story about loss and downfall but with a different emotion being represented, its more dark, hard and disturbing. This song has a faster pace, tempo, angry and disturbing. Hip-hop music to me is writing quickly with words and sentences being jumbled together.

These two songs are similar in their messages but with a different feeling and emotion being portrayed, flowing and innocent V’s hard and disturbing. The message communicated in each is dark and mixed up.
