The brief was to create a series of vector based characters and NZ themed back drops a hand cleaning product -MAGIC MUD.
I started off by taking lots and lots of reference photos of my family and friends to try and get natural looking poses as possible (for a vecor character!) I tried to add that 'kiwiana' feel with the pohutukawa trees, classic redband gumboots on granddad, and the snapper and pounamu on the fisherman.
Just for a touch of kiwi!
I used my 8 year old daughter for refrence for the grubby kid! (which isnt unlike miss Amelia!)
I thought about a typical kiwi bloke for this fishing guy. And luckily we live in a seaside community, so I had plenty of refrence material! Figured he should have the typical kiwi 'uniform' of H & F shirt and jandels! The snapper took a bit of work to get it right. but he looks pretty happy with his catch I recon! And adding the pounamu, you know hes a nz bloke!
...and my beautiful Mum who always has a tub of magic mud around for her family!
