Wedge was commissioned to design a poster for Apnée, a short fiction film written and directed by Alexis Chartrand. It tells a moving story about a music student suffering from depression. Our challenge was to create a poster that reflected the spirit of the movie, marked by the elegance of classical music and the depressed mood affecting the main character. We sought inspiration from traditional music sources, including Deutsche Grammophon album design. In the end, we selected Perpetua font and a silhouetted figure representing an alabaster bust. Wary of falling into a melancholic cliché, we washed the visual in a deep yellow hue, a decision that was also a homage to Deutsche Grammophon.
