"Moments and Memories"

My work is concerned with past memories that I have either partiallyforgotten or chosen not to recall regarding my late mothers illness andsubsequent death. The photographs help me to look back and remember the experiencesand memories from this determining time in my life. I reflect on objects andquiet corners from around our family home, through this I can now objectivelyinvestigate my mother’s leaving and view it as a more cathartic experience.

Through this exhibition I record my home and past history and reveal itto the viewer. This is a domestic theatre that once hid memories but nowexposes them. These compositions are images that I barely recall but I havereturned to them for solace.

These arrangements show the moments and objects that are for me packedwith emotion. Not all of it brings sadness; some in fact evoke joy andhappiness even humour. I want this domestic arena to be inclusive and familiarto all and allow the viewer to engage in what is a universal theme.

The strong emotions contained within these photographs should stillallow the viewer to have access to private information about their ownsubjectivity. These single prints and triptych can be turned into a variety ofmini narratives. They are intended to transcend cultural diversity, as familyis the heart of every community.
