This swatch was created as a submission for a challenge at my school sponsored by Glen Raven/Sunbrella in which we could only use their yarns, which are typically used to make heavy duty textiles intended to withstand the outdoors.
I drew inspiration from Long Island Wine Country (where I grew up) to give this knit fabric a rustic and artisan style with a cozy feeling that could be seen in an “outdoor living room” type setting. I mixed different yarn types and colors into my fabric to give an interesting raised effect and texture, and to also imitate the visual effect of rows in a vineyard. Press-off structure was used with varying needle designs to reflect the organic patterns seen in vineyards.
Swatch is 13.5" x 13.5", done on a Passap v-bed knitting machine
