The Contemporary Townhouse

The Contemporary Townhouse
Interior Studio II, Spring 2012
This is a contemporary townhouse in Old City Philadelphia made for two brothers who are recently divorced and their three sons. Both brothers were looking for a contemporary space that had a clean design. The concept of the space was to make the center of the home the central space for circulation. The opening in the center of the him allows light to flow into the house through the skylight in the roof. The house is filled with public and private spaces. Each person living in the house is able to get a good amount of private space to themselves, while also having a large amount of space for gathering and spending time as a family.

This space that was given to us in our interior studio class had some credentials but we could freely design the space to the way we wanted. It is a three story building with a full height basement. There is a light well in the back that allows for windows and light in the tea of the basement level. The roof has an area in the back that we could use as a roof deck. In this area I included an Endless Pool for exercise and enjoyment. I chose to make this area for sitting and relaxing also.
