LATENT is part of a wider photographic project, the purpose of which is to ask the question
– what do we see when we look?
I started out from the concept of LATENT (hidden image) to discover, after attentively and sistematically dismantling the real image, the imaginary world hidden underneath.
In the apparent chaos of the visual elements disorder that compose it, (textures, stones, walls, rivers, water, eventually everything around me...) I found an order which puts a new reality into context and allows me to select and photograph what I intend to seize and reveal.
In some cases the process of capture compelled me to redefine my way of looking and to freeze the apparent movement of things.
An example of this are the images taken in courses of water, where I often caught a glimpse of static shapes flowing softly under a high speed current.
I believe image should not wear out in itself, but become a leitmotiv of access to the most unexpected realities.
There's no photo montage on my LATENT pictures, they represent a new way to see our reality around us.
