Reading space at Sanjay Colony

SANJAY COLONY, DELHI, INDIA

The project was borne out of my continued partnership with the Deepalya Library project - an NGO that works with unprivelged children and adults in low-income neighbourhoods. The project is situated inside a slum settlement by the name of Sanjay Colony. The inhabitants of the space are mostly into ragpicking as a livelihood option. At the moment there is no space in the neighbourhood where adults can congregate or discuss. The reading space aims to not only provide adults in the neighbourhood with a chance to pick-up reading and find a quiet space where they can read and study, but it also becomes a space where they can congregate, get access to benefit programs, discuss issues realted to the community etc.
The project is currently under development and I will be sharing pictures from the project here soon.
