Diffuse Magazine

Diffuse Magazine is a student project magazine exploring the diffusion of design concepts. Inspired by Ellen Lupton's "White Space" and Kenya Hara's "Designing Design".  Diffuse Magazine is a playful attempt to visualise core concepts within Lupton's and Hara's writing and any other academic, theoretical inquiry about art and design. The first issue explores the idea of "white space" with the cover aiming to activate the white page by diffusing a colour within a "universe" of laser cut spaces sometimes noticed within body text that lacks type detailing.

White Space Article

"White Space" by Ellen Lupton explores the use and misuse of white space within print design. This design aims to playfully expore the multiple aspects of white space, the Lupton lists within her examniation. Using tracing paper, the reader is aware of the use of white space.
Designing Design
In Kenya Hara’s article he expresses an unbalance between  designers initiating a design project on paper and designers who start digitally. He compares it to an unbalanced mis-step. Additionally contrasting traditional design practice  to taking a fresh breath of air. Retainining the theme of activating paper, the imagrey was created to parrallel the organ imagrey his article held in reminiscence. The text, designed to express the “mis-step” to create a sense
of unbalance.
