The fading glory of Haw Par Villa with its depictions of scenes from Chinese Mythology was sometimes referred to by locals as the ‘Oriental Disneyland’. Unlike the ‘happiest place on Earth’, this installation highlights the irony of the macabre Ten Courts of Hell in this once popular theme park as opposed to modern theme parks.
