This project made us take a piece of artwork from a younger child that depicted a monster and recreate the monster on a book/movie cover using our digital image design skills. We were encouraged to make the monster three dimensional and give it surrondings that support the book/movie title.
The monster my kid drew was seen in a woodland setting. It also looked like the monster was searching/waiting for someone or something, hence the title "Waiting in the Woods". In order to recreate the monster, I used Adobe Photoshop. I used a variety of preset and custom brushes to paint and texturize my piece. I used alternating opacity to attempt at providing a third dimesion, but it did not work as well as I'd hoped it would.
Overall, I was not very proud of my final piece. If given another opportunity, I probably would have used Adobe Illustrator instead of Photoshop because I am more comfortable with it. I was not comfortable with painting and as a result I don't think my project resulted as well as it could have.
