The task that was given was to create an intervention that will make people stop and think before using the kere indiscriminately, that will arouse a sense of civic pride and will foster a closer relationship between different kinds of people and their neighborhood kere. Following was my proposal.

Creating an intervention at the lake wherein a small buoy would look after the water quality of the lake. This buoy would have a sensor sensing the algae content and the sewage content in the water. Once the level rises up, the sensor beeps and communicates to the community via a red light blinking, warning the people to clean the lake. The concept is to actually make the lake talk to the community around it. This, in the long run, might help foster a relationship with the community and the kere and make them stop and think before using the lake indiscriminately.
Along with this sensor, mainly targeting the nature lovers, nature enthusiasts, photographers, joggers, etc., creating an installation/ screen that would give them details and information about the biodiversity in and around the lake and about the ecosystems which are affected by the water quality. The information from the buoy would get transmitted to the installation updating the information that is collected and also about the ecosystems and biodiversity. This could be placed on the pathways and  it will keep updating and add on information. It would be an interactive installation that provides information about the kere and how the community is affecting it.

I made a quick prototype to give an idea about the device. I used arduino along with a red LED and piezobuzzer.
