DGS - Personal Branding

This month, we were given the hardest task yet, branding ourselves. A lot of work and research went into our decisions of how we wanted ourselves to be percieved by our clients, competitors, and by potential employers.
Our first step was deciding which medium that we wanted to focus on, whether it be web or print or multi-media. Before even going into this month, I knew that I wanted to focus on more of the print based media, and that made my decision of branding myself as a photographer and illustrator and easy choice. The harder choice was how I wanted my brand to be perceived. I went through many different concepts and ideas for a personal logo, before narrowing it down to 10 options that I also vectorized, shown above with their sketched counterparts.
For my final logo, I decided to use the outline of a polaroid camera film sheet and the pen tool symbol that you would find in Adobe programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. In order to convey how I am both a photographer and designer, I combined the two elements so that the pen symbol showed up within the film sheet and became one icon. The script making up my name is a mixture of a pre-designed font and two hand scripted letters, which are the S & K that I tend to write when I have to sign my name. The color palette that I chose to work with is comprised up of two different purples and a light teal-blue, which represent some of my favorite colors.

Below are pieces of the identity package that I came up with, which include my business card, envelope, and letterhead.
