Dorito's Facebook App
Doritos and CVS wanted to team up for an end-of-summer campaign to push core bags (Nacho and Cool Ranch) using an incentive base promotion. I came up with a photo editing Facebook app that allowed users to "Dorito-ize" their Facebook photos. In this app they can send the stylized images directly to CVS to get printed. The bags of chips contained a discount on the prints.
Objective: Increase core bag (Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch) sales during summer months at CVS utilizing the photo department.
Issue: CVS shoppers visiting the photo department are not intercepted by core bag promotions and do not see value in picking up base Doritos products with other compelling salty snack options to choose from.
Insight: Instagram is gaining popularity with photo-manipulating features and shoppers see value in using technology like this with their own photos. Also, shoppers seek immediate price value at CVS and respond to in-store deals.
Challenge: Create an engaging promotion involving the CVS photo department and in-store deals that attracts shoppers to grab more core bags of Doritos.
