CD PROJECT - BRIEF 1
For this assignments I had to design cover/contents for a CD linking it with fashion, art and music. I also had to design a cover for my CD. I had research different types of music and I was inspired by Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and many more, that is why Pop Art was my chosen theme. I also chose this theme because this is also my chosen theme on one of my assignments with Nancy.
Picture shown below is a mind map I made to help me with my project.
I have created a pin board on Pinterest for research purposes. This board is just my research for CD cover ideas, music, art and fashion. On my board on Pinterest, it has my research about my choses theme, Pop Art. It also has different CD cover ideas and style for inspirations.
The link to my board is here.
Research about Pop Art and Pop Music

"Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in America and Britain, drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture such as advertising, Hollywood movies and pop music. Key pop artists include Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Hamilton, Peter Blake and David Hockney"

"Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form in the Western world during the 1950s and 1960s, deriving from rock and roll. The terms "popular music" and "pop music" are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular (and can include any style)."
Research about CD dimensions: this is the classic CD cover shown below.

The dimensions for CD cover is 4.75 inches by 4.75 inches.

I chose this design as I really like things very minimal and simple. I got the "No.5" title from the Chanel perfume "No.5". I just thought it went perfectly well with my theme as Chanel is very famous in the fashion industry.

I got the pictures / illustraions from this website (http://dadushin.com/I-DON-T-LIKE-CLOTHES)Choosing these pictures went very well with the theme.
These are some CD covers examples I got online (Pinterest). I have researched and looked at different designs and layouts of CD covers. Everything I looked has different layout, style, colour and its theme. Some are made out of plastic, cardboard, etc. By researching different examples of CD covers, I got ideas how to design and create my own CD.

The last picture shown above is my idea and I will try and achieve its simple design.
The image is an image of my friends. I also used this image for my assignment for Nancy, since I'm doing Pop Music I thought it would be perfect to use the same picture as well to relate to my theme.
This is a rough drawing of the CD Net I did on a piece of paper. I measured all different areas and put them as a rough sketch on paper.
So this is a prototype of my CD Net. I'm going to add a few changes to it, but this is roughly what I'm going to end up with by the end of this project.

I did another rough example onto a thicker paper to get another idea on how it will look on my final paper as I will be using a thick paper/cardboard for my final piece.
This is my final piece.

I wanted my final piece to look minimal so I only added the picture inside where the list of songs are. By adding the brown/gold border made it stand out even more. For the front page, I did not want it to look so bare so I added the white/cream ribbon with silver diamonds.
