Titled "Impressioni," or "Impression" in Italian, the book is a product of the "Book Arts in Venice" program through Western Michigan University and is a collection of poems and illustrations written by the students in the program. As a designer in the program, I was one of two students to design the cover. All typography on the cover and in the book was hand set and pressed from lead type.

 

We set the type on three lines to represent the three legs of our trip spent in different Italian cities. We then embossed the title area with lines of poetry from the book, to represent the deep impression out time abroad had made on us.
