Artwork for the Maxinquaye music album by Tricky, released in 1995.
The project includes the artwork for the digipack, and a folded poster with the lyrics of the tracks. Besides, there is also a suggestion of the user experience for the website promoting the artist.
MAXINQUAYE is an album inspired by the mother of the artist, her suicide, and the native culture of them both, born in Ghana. In times when hip-hop became more and more mainstream, the capitalist world taking over this underground sub-culture, voices have been raised and action took place, giving birth to trip-hop, an innovative, unquiet, quite misterious genre. Based on sampling and experiments, Tricky is one of the pioneers of the movement, proposing an album that captured intimate insecurities, existential questioning, in the scent of recreational substances.
