La familia Colorado es un proyecto editorial dirigido a niños con autismo entre 5 y 7 años, con el fin de crear una herramienta que facilite y estimule su aprendizaje y su desarrollo. Este proyecto busca mejor la comunicación de estos niños con su entorno y estrechar los vínculos con sus seres cercanos por medio de la diversión y el entretenimiento. Consiste en una colección de 5 libros, cada uno posee la historia de uno de los personajes de la familia en su contexto determinado, de modo que con cada libro el niño adquirirá conocimientos diferentes. Adicionalmente, cada libro posee la historia relatada en pictogramas ya que los niños con autismo aprenden visualmente y leen y comprenden por medio de gráficos y dibujos. El proceso de realización consistió en: etapa de  investigación, donde entendimos en qué consiste esta condición, sus características y sus diferentes categorías, en segundo lugar, en trabajo de campo donde por medio del contacto con niños con autismo logramos entender cómo se relacionan con el entorno y cuáles eran sus necesidades y dificultades en cuanto a su aprendizaje y a su desarrollo, y en tercer lugar, se dio a cabo un proceso de co-creación con los niños, los padres y los terapeutas, prototipado e interación para llegar al resultado final.

 

 

 

 
Colorado family // publishing house: "Colorado family" is a publishing project addressed to autistic children in the ages between 5 and 7 years, with purpose of creating a tool that provides and stimulates their learning and development. This project is looking to improve the children communication with their surroundings and to reinforce the relationship with their families all of this through fun and entertainment. The collection consists in 5 books where you can find, on each book, a different story of each member of Colorado family.  Each book is focus on a specific skill so the child will learn something different reading each book. The children will find on each book the story through pictographs because autistic children have a visual learning and understand better when they see pictures and graphics. The process to create the product consisted in:  first, a research stage where we understood the characteristics and categories of this medical condition. Second, we made a field work so we got in contact with these children and their families; this stage was the most important one because here we could understand the problems these children were having when it comes to learning new skills. The third stage consisted in a co-work with therapists and parents in order to create the final product.
