Civil + Structural Engineer magazine celebrates the designers of the world around us. The Rising Star awards recognizes civil and structural engineers 40 years old or younger working in the United States for consulting firms, public agencies, military, or educational or research institutions who have shown exceptional technical capability, leadership ablity, effective teaching or research, and/or public service benefiting the civil and structural engineering professions, their employers, project owners, and society.
The idea for this cover was to present this year's Rising Star award winners next to the stars of civil and structural engineering like Leonardo da Vinci, Brunelleschi, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and Ove Arup. The Sgt. Peppers inspired cover is intended to celebrate the award winners and elevate them to rockstar status along with the stars that have risen before them.
