“Alt Island” is a multimedia eBook documenting the current allure and influence of the people involved in Jamaica’s various sub-cultures. Chapter 1 - Sun Pierced, puts the spotlight on piercing practitioners and their craft as they aid and perform piercings on a growing number of body modification enthusiasts in Jamaica.

At the core of this project is the desire to learn about, document and relate the experiences and interactions of participants within the subculture, effectively adding to the knowledge base surrounding Jamaican sub and main culture interaction.

Through the use of photography, this approach provides a basis for creating photographic essays/ documentaries by showing the itemization of elements needed to enable research, interpretation, understanding and communication of the chosen subject matter.
