Our pathetic protagonist views the world as a desperate dialectical dilemma, to be or not to be, a savage struggle for survival sublimated into the dissembled deceptions of cruelly cultured civilisation. Hence he finds no release by restraint, desire by denial, or happiness by humility, as his self-sequestered soul wanders its wretched way through this lonely lament from psychopathy to psychosis.
