Bias twist gown
Final Term Garment: "Theme of Fire and Ice"
I wanted to focus and research with a scientific approach for this final term project. This approach was more in an ecological direction with the warming atmosphere effecting the ice caps and rapidly raising the sea levels, specifically the land re-mapping of Antartica, Greenland and Bangledesh through global warming.
Through test strips and drapes, I shifted the the top and dress from a woven to a knit which would be then dyed with a shibori technique. I thought the use of shibori would be a subtle way to reference topographical maps that are used to document changes in the landscape from the rising sea levels.
