PREGNANT / INCINTA

This project brings together a series of pictures I took of pregnant women during the last days of their pregnancy. In every womens' look is reflected the unique and complex emotional state they are living. They are shots made at home, using only natural light coming through the windows. The project began about four years ago. After going through a period of pain for a miscarriage, I started photographing other pregnant women, friends and acquaintances almost all from the city where I live, near Milan, in Italy. As time passed, other girls have contacted me asking to be photographed, although in most cases we had never met before. Since then, I never stopped meeting them and to this day I devote to these women, who are about to face a decisive moment of life in most of my shots.

Ah! Meanwhile my second child is born and this time everything worked out well.

Questo progetto raccoglie una serie di ritratti che ho scattato a donne incinte durante gli ultimi giorni della loro gravidanza. In ogni sguardo si rispecchia lo stato emotivo unico e complesso che stanno vivendo. Sono scatti realizzati in casa, utilizzando solo la luce naturale che filtrava dalle finestre. Il progetto è iniziato circa quattro anni fa'. Dopo aver attraversato un periodo di dolore per un aborto spontaneo ho iniziato a fotografare altre donne incinte, amiche e conoscenti quasi tutte della città dove vivo, vicino a Milano, in Italia. Col passare del tempo, altre ragazze mi hanno contattato chiedendomi di essere fotografate, anche se in molti casi non ci eravamo mai viste prima. Non ho più smesso di incontrarle e ancora oggi dedico a queste donne, che stanno per affrontare un momento decisivo della vita, buona parte dei miei scatti.

Ah! Nel frattempo è nato anche il mio secondo figlio e questa volta è andato tutto bene.
