To flourish is to attract attention, make bold gestures, standout from the crowd
Destined to do all of the above, are the thirty-one up and coming textile designers fromMassey University’s College of Creative Arts, whose work will be showcased in the exhibitionFlourish. Each designer has generously donated an exquisite one-off hand painted chiffonscarf to be auctioned, with proceeds going to Downstage Theatre. In the weaving of fine talestheatre and textiles share a long and rich history, the scarves designed for Flourish celebratethe colour, energy, and transformation that is theatre.
Up until the exhibition week, each of these up and coming textile design students will feature a small profile about themselves for you to find out a little bit more about themselves as an individual and hints into their final piece of work to be displayed at Flourish.

The contrast between the fluid movements of the theatre atmosphere and the solid concrete building Downstage is situated in are Zoe’s inspiration. A bold and bright colour palette is used with subtle textures to create depth to the design.
