I was hired to design a user experience web app concept for public transport operators to manage electric bus fleets. After visiting multiple public transport operators in Europe, we were armed with the insights to solve the challenges the operators face when putting electric buses into operations mixed with diesel bus fleets. We created a fleet management system that, when supported by data being collected from the vehicle, was able to predict bus remaining range and charging time needed to optimise fleet usage, including mapping vehicles to routes and deciding when and where to charge each bus.
