The collection of photos from Kawah Ijen were shot during a week-long solo trip in Java. In pursuit of the perfect shot, I had to descent close to the heart of the volcano alone. The natural lighting reflected of the rocky surface of the Ijen volcano complex brought out the colours in stark contrast. The photo composition was a medium format film camera, with the trustworthy Kodak Porta 160. Inspiration to visit the volcano complex came from my fellow photographers, and I knew I had to see the place for my eyes. Kawah Ijen did not disappoint.
