The Tawā planter was developed with the unique needs of Reindeer Moss in mind.  Research undertaken into the moss revealed that it does not like very much water or light, and so I infused those ergonomic needs with visual influences from Japanese minimalism and Star Wars concept art to try and create a visually singular and striking product.
Tawa is made from drape-formed and laser cut acrylic and a small amount of poplar wood.  To prove that the design could be repeatedly manufactured, five models were produced in 3 color schemes, White/Lime, White/Blue, and Smoke/Bone.
The clean, sharp vertical lines of the planter acted as a wonderful frame for the freewheeling chaos of the tangled moss living inside.
Tawā is comprised of a simple, unfastened pair of pieces that allow for easy access to and addition or removal of the moss inside.  The acrylic piece can effortlessly be lifted off, and will simply balance on its base when replaced.
