make the tasks stunningly easy
These are some of the original user interfaces relating to the tasks.
Structure 1
Constraints removed: Users don't need to click into the "Browse TED Talks" page to perfrom the search action.
Instead, a search talks bar has been inserted on the top of homepage
Different from the global search embedded in the main navigation menu, the search talks bar directs user to the video browsing page with the search results shown. User can also clicks the search buttion to reach the full library of talk videos, which would dismiss the repetive "Explore the full library" navigation down the page.
Structure 2
On the video filter panel, the options are clearly displayed on the droplist to better indicate user's current situation. So the filter datas won't be taken out of the action perfomring area and clutter under the search panel.
Structure 3 & 4
Constraints removed: Users are able to scroll down the video page while watching the video at the same time.
Hence, what I think would fire up the workflow is to restructure the video landing page and activate a video pop-up screen when scrolling below the fold. In this way user gets to the detailed talk descrption instantly and is encouraged to stepped into the sharing actions and discussions.
