The 13.5’ x 9’ life-sized drawing of Rome’s Fontana dei Libri was created in a very unique manner. The first step was to create a high-resolution base photo comprised of the elevation seamlessly folding into the plan below. This composition was divided into 486 6” squares that were assigned at random to the 14 members of the class. While working on such a small portion, we were forced to focus on minute details that contributed to the drawing as a whole. Even a seemingly trivial texture square was just as important as one depicting the books or deer. When completed, we laid out each individual square in order to recreate the plan/elevation composition.
