My first project as an intern at Modern Dog Design Co.: a twenty-four page annual report for the Seattle Aquarium. I had done the same project in a portfolio class with Robynne, using similar assets; that was the project I began to learn typography on. I enjoyed doing the same project twice, the second time under pressure (it was late before I started it.) I was able to take what I'd learned on the first book, then turn right around and put it to use on the real one.

The Aquarium wants to present itself to its benefactors as competent, but not ostentatious, so the palette and type are pretty straightforward, pleasing and orderly.  I filled a notebook recording everything I learned on this project.
