Mind the Gap was an interactive art installation by artist Nathaniel Stern at the Paul Watkins Art Gallery at Winona State University. The exhibition's central focus was Stern's piece titled "Stuttering," a large-scale interactive piece that projected words onto the gallery wall. Viewers triggered the piece when they moved within a designated area of the gallery, animating the words on the gallery wall and triggering an audio narration that stuttered the words. As the gallery's Graphic Design Intern, I was tasked with designing the advertising campaign to promote the exhibition including postcards, posters, large-scale banners, and a vinyl wall design. The challenge was to communicate a sense of interaction and movement within a static design. My solution was to incorporate a human hand and arrows interacting with a simulation of Stern's piece. I chose to position the arrows in various directions to establish a sense of confusion, or stuttering.
