Alina Zaharia's profile

The Blue and Green at Corvo Island

Corvo's island, Azores. Development is many times associated with growth, progress, more. Always more. Humanity has abandoned the way of life created 10,000 years ago with the advent of agriculture, multiplying in the cities and away from nature.

However in Corvo, in the archipelago of the Azores, the most western island in Europe, the population, who came to have a minimum of 350 inhabitants in 1982, grows. Today, the small island of 6.5kms by 4kms has 430 inhabitants. Some returned to their homeland where they find the amenities of modern life, the relationship with the land and the sea, the scenery contemplation, silence, fog, green and blue.
I wanted that space and time let the pictures breath freely, that the nature of Corvo disclose in the joy of the inhabitants who never left but, above all, those who returned and to which life is enough for them.
