Highway Gothic Typographic Poster

This is a typography-based poster that I created for my Typography & Page Layout course.

I was given the opportunity to create a typography based poster using any typeface of my choice. The only caveat is that I was required to include all of the characters A-Z, as well as all number characters 0-9, within the design. I was also expected to provide a brief history of the typeface within the finished poster. The final main requirement was that ALL of the poster had to be created in Adobe InDesign. This requirement made the creation of this poster a much longer task than usual, but it forced me to think outside of the box to complete the task.

I chose the Highway Gothic typeface because it is one of the most commonly seen typefaces in America. Almost every single highway and roadway sign uses this typeface due to its easy leglibility at high speeds and long distances. I tried to create a cloverleaf interchange using the typefaces characters. The green characters represent the grass surrounding the interchange, while the gray was added to provide the illusion of three dimensional depth against the white.
