The goal of this project was design a luminaire from the conceptual stages into the build process. The concept of my luminaire was an abstracted lotus, as I find the complexity of a lotus flower inspirational. The fixture was built from common items found at a hardware store, such as aluminum flashing, and aluminum leaf strainers. In the light, the fixture looks like a piece of artwork, and in the dark it casts a soft, candlelit glow.
