Pre-Cast Concrete Bridge

As a part of "construction" for 5th semester, we were supposed to deisgn something that could be precasted in concrete and assembeled on site. The assignment had to happen in groups of four.

We designed a pedestrian bridge that was 30 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width. The maximum depth(at the ends) was 2 meters while the minimum depth(at the centre) was 0.8 meters.

These are the photographs of the first two modules of the same bridge which we casted in Plaster of Paris at 1:10 scale. These two modules are connected by four tension cables which pass through critical junctions of the corss-section.

The moulds for the model have been made out of MDF and HIP(high intensity plastic) while the casting was done with Dental Plaster.
