Def Jam Rapstar
4mm Games
4MM, Autumn Games and Def Jam Interactive teamed up to create a new kind of game play experience with Def Jam Rapstar. Merging the console with an online social experience, the Rock Band style game play extends to the web with an online community. Online, users are encouraged to battle one another in rap freestyles and get their friends to join in by voting for them and sharing their skills via social media. Overall, the site was slated to feature more online game play experiences with the notion of promoters; where users who aren’t into performing can showcase their talents as tastemakers - just like the real rap industry.

I came into project three weeks prior to launch and was in charge of the development team for the online portion of the game. I was tasked to manage the redesign of the marketing portion of the website shown above, taking it from design to implementation in two weeks. I also managed the delivery of the community portion of the website that had already been in development.
After launch, I developed the product roadmap with executives and key stakeholders of the project. I implemented agile practices with the development team to iteratively release improvements to the site and I implemented and managed the editorial, marketing and promotional schedules between the social, marketing and design teams for the site.
In addition to managing the day to day activities on the site, I also worked with the marketing and design teams on multiple marketing efforts in helping them concept and then execute projects within given resource and time constraints. Promotions included an integrated Complex Magazine contest, the 'Are You A Rapstar?'  UK contest and the twitter rap-off microsite.
