Manipulating the right enzymes in plants could lead them to producing their own water. Plants like cacti could store surplus water in their pith, allowing the plants to be tapped as a water supply. With the addition of luminescent proteins, the plants could glow to indicate when they are ready to be tapped. Through attempting to utilize the modified cactus, this prototype was created to envision a scenario in which people tap cacti as a water resource.
