Interactive Interfaces – Master's Thesis
My thesis focus was in creating digital interactive interfaces. These interfaces were derived from print editorial layouts and prototyped for mobile device interfaces.
Print page layouts were designed in direct response to printing limitations and therefore digital page layouts must be designed in direct response to technical limitations. Digital publishers must maximize the potential of the digital device and create an experience that transcends paper. I propose that designers be encouraged to think of digital pages as a 3D space or a 2D plane. The space need not be confined to the dimensions of a screen. Text and images can flow into other pages. Page transitions can be animated. Traditional perspective and orientation can be challenged.
In order to achieve this new perspective, I determined which digital publishing platforms and interactive programs best maximize this type of interactive reading experience on a mobile digital device.
