The Brief:
To conceive, plan, and execute a systematized design strategy which communicates a direct message through specific message. Students are expected to apply their message through a range of media while maintaining a focused concept.
My Approach:
I did research on Roy Lichtenstein (he was an American pop art artist; his website is http://lichtensteinfoundation.org) biography and body of works. Through the research, I came up with 3 keywords that could describe his works: dots, primary color, and transmission. In the bigger picture, Lichtenstein’s use of benday dots and blatant color was understood as a representation of message transmission using printing machinery. From there, I designed a set of film festival collaterals. The reasons are a film is composed of colors and film is one of the means of message transmission. In addition, film production is inseparable from the use of various machines. Lastly, as the final product, the projected moving images are composed of dots.
