Herbscent is an incense brand that uses medical herbs as the main ingredients for its product. The inspiration comes from ‘The Compendium of Materia Medica’, also known as Bencao Gangmu, a Chinese materia medica work written written by Li Shizhen during the Ming Dynasty. It is the most comprehensive medical book ever written in the history of traditional Chinese medicine that lists all the plants, animals, minerals, and other items that were believed to have medicinal properties.
The packaging design takes the form of a book. Each packaging is complimented with an original herb illustration inspired by the illustrated catalogue in the opening of The Compendium of Materia Medica.
