A Grim Curiosity is an illustrated children’s book which features a boy experiencing dangerous objects that children should not play with. Encountering objects that start with every letter of the alphabet, this book will educate children on these items through playful storytelling. Included with the system is a poster allowing for kid's to fill in the blank line to further improve their remembrance of these harmful objects. Also included is an iSpy puzzle cube set. With 24 illustrated sides, children can find one object on each face that may be harmful if played with. These objects are illustrated using a line technique to further the difficulty of finding these objects but also enforce the idea that dangerous objects can be hidden in plain sight.

The process began with developing a story based on these dangerous objects and a character to experience them. The story was written in a rhyme to add to the playful feel of this book. This allows for children to stay engaged with a subject that on it's own that is rather dry. The illustrations were then developed to pair with the story creating a dynamic experience of creative writing and illustration. The layout was then set with the typography and illustrations and paces in a rather playful way.
Thank you!
