This editorial illustration is made for the article “Holding onto Depression”; the author uses scientific analysis to explain the psychological states of the people with depression, making quotes from many fairytales to encourage his reader. The idea is inspired from the scene of Aladdin in the underground castle in which he seeks for the magical lamp, but the evil treasure trails on the route divert his attention. Once he loses his mind in greed and picks up the treasure, the castle will collapse immediately. The illustration is shaped on this plot. A hand that holds the poison diamond within a dark atmosphere around indicates that people’s hearts erode and become vulnerable if they can’t let the sorrow go.
