I painted this double portrait from 2 very small black and white (or should I say "sepia") passport photographs, made somewhere in the mid 30-s of 20-th century.
Those people were the parents a great Bulgarian gentleman who ordered the portrait.
Such a painting accumulates the memory of our ancestors and therefore my task as the one creating it was very responsible.
That`s why in the process of painting I felt somehow close to these people, imagined knowing them in person and tried to capture their characters.
And inventing the colours was like bringing them to life from a vague memory.
I really enjoied working on this order and I`m very happy and honored that the genleman picked me to create it :-)
