Mostly Mozart Festival

For this project we had to create two different poster for the Mostly Mozart Festival. One had to be symmetrical and the other had to be asymmertrical. The photo on top with the Walt Disney Concert Hall on the front is my symmetrical poster. For this poster I had a photo of the Walt Disney Concert Hall cover half of the background, then the other half I filled it in with a light blue color to kind of blend the photo and the background together. After setting in my photo and switching the color of my background, I used the text tool to add in the title which is the Los Angeles Philharmonic presents, and then the venue, date and what not. For the title I added a lower arch to it so it would rise about the poster and be bigger and more bold than the other text. Once I had all of my text in that I needed to give it repetition and balance I put in music notes around one side with the shape tool. I filled them with light blue and had the stroke be black since music notes are usually black. The text that I used for this poster is bold but classy. I wanted a text that had a feel for LA. When you see it you think, wow that makes sense. So the text that I used is called Gouda Old Style Bold. This text gave me the happy medium I wanted. Once I looked over my poster, I started on the second one. Which is the asymmetrical poster. For this poster I kept the two photos I uploaded off balance. I kept the same theme with the background being light blue. When I inserted the photos I felt like a shape or something needed to be around them so I thought film strips would be cool because it a concert hall, as well as in Los Angeles. I added the film strips with my shape tool to the top and bottom of the two photos. Then using my text tool I added in my text again. I applied the lower arch to the title again to give it the same look, but I changed up the color for a few texts. I used the same font for all of it but the text, Mostly Mozart Festival. I made that one different for the asymmetrical poster. The text that I used for that is called Rosewood Std. Regular. This gave the poster a different feel too it since it isn't the same text that I have been using. When putting in the venue and date I made sure they were off center for the asymmetrical feel. I then used my shape took again to add music notes in the corners of the poster. By using the shape tool for the music notes and film strip I wanted to create balance, unity and repetition.
