For the City Shoot project, I immediately thought of the Distillery District as the location that I wanted to document - there is a lot of old and interesting architecture and details concentrated within just a few blocks. I took a lot of images in the first shoot, over a hundred, which was a good idea because a lot of them did not turn out too well in terms of exposure and angles. This was only my second time using a professional camera and I seem to spend most of my time figuring out the settings rather than on the composition itself. As I went through all my pictures, the ones that I liked the most were of objects and details rather than of buildings. My final series includes objects and details that caught my eye and that I thought contributed to the historical atmosphere and character of the Distillery District. The theme running through the final series is that of antiquity meeting modernity.
In this first photo of an old truck, I really like the contrast of the truck with the modern looking metallic sculpture in the back.
