In the whole of the Adriatic area, but also sometimes in the inland part, the main material for roofing was slates or stone slabs.
Wooden beams were main constructive system for the roof covering. Because of the sheer weight of a roof of stone slabs (the heaviest roofing in the whole of the traditional building practice), the rafters were at most about 40 cm apart.Similar to the traditional ways rafters in this house are denser than usual.
Main constructive system is made of thick wooden rafters which are supported with secondary system of small laminated lattices. Those are grouping in Voronoi system recalling traditional stone slabs forms. Third part of this system are ETFE inflatable roof, giving this ‘’stone box’’ a bit of transparency.
