Collab: Self Branding

This project was created for the 2015 Collab competittion. The theme this year was "Selfie" and each entrant was required to create their own personal brand.

My personal brand was built around the fact that I'm not a stickler for what medium I work in. I simply like to design. Because of this, I created a brand for mysefl based around the concept of play and adaptation.

One of the key concepts I was experimenting with was can you make a brand that doesn't have one primary logo. My brand has many different marks. They are all created out of the same set of shapes (derived from deconstructed "J"s) and incorporate a consistent set of textures and colors from the materials, which makes them immediately become associated with each other and hold together cohesively as a system.
The business cards each feature one of the versions of the mark on the front, and a deconstructed version of the mark on the back.
The leave behind for the contest
The leave behind is a box filled with the pieces used to create the "J" mark. The goal is to get people to engage and create their own letter and engage in Play and Change.

After going through the play process, the recipient is instructed to take a picture of the letter they've created, and post it with a hashtag to create an online collection of everyone's letter's that have been created.
The leave behind is allows people to understand the design process and draw people in by engaging them in a way that a poster or business card or most anything else wouldn't. They serve as a conversation starter, deocrations, magnets(each piece is magnetic) and also gives a bit of insight to my design process.
