I'm excited about this one mostly because I feel that I was able to communicate the feel of sitting on the damp grass beside the pond where I drew this specimen, and I feel that I can almost hear the splash of the frogs that jumped into the water when I startled them. Within this series of drawings up to this point, I had been using dry powdered charcoal to get the effect of dirt and grunge on my paper, but lately I have been experimenting with wetting that medium and trying out a water-soluble carbon block (which I've found that I love). The effect is rich and dark with the ability to make gradations in every shade of gray, much like ink, except it is erasable.
